Uddeholm Swedish Rally

OMV ADAC Rallye Deutschland
Based in Trier, this rally features tight hairpins in the vineyards and the rough concrete of the army proving grounds. Distance: 1200kms over 19 stages. Terrain: A mixture of concrete and asphalt with a fine layer of dust that results in a slippery set of stages.

Neste Oil Rally Finland
Based around Jyvaskyla, the rally in the country of the 1000 lakes is known as the Grand Prix of the WRC because of its high speeds. Distance: 1700kms over 21 stages. Terrain: Loose, smooth gravel along roads littered with jumps (or 'yumps') which can see drivers reaching speeds of 200kph.

Rally Japan
Another new event that made its debut in 2004, Rally Japan is an all-gravel affair in the forests of Hokkaido. Distance: 1430km over 26 stages. Terrain: A gravel-based terrain that though smoother than some of its Mediterranean counterparts, is still a challenge for drivers.


Cyprus Rally
Based in Limassol, this is the slowest, twistiest rally, with car-breaking, rock strewn mountain roads and relentless bends. Distance: 1300kms over 18 stages. Terrain: Sandy forest and dust tracks across seriously seriously steep mountainous roads.

Poginuo Kolin Mekre

Kolin Mekre, bivši višestruki prvak svijeta u automobilizmu i njegov petogodišnji sin, poginuli jsu večeras u helikopterskoj nesreći koja se dogodila u Lanarkširu. Kako je saopštila policija, helikopterom je upravljao Mekre, a nesreća se dogodila samo na kilometar razdaljine od dvorca Džervis Haus, koji je pripao porodici Mekre.

U saopštenju policije navodi se i da je helikopter pao najvjerovatnije uslijed oštećenja, koje je tokom samog leta izazvalo požar. Nakon pada, helikopter je u potpunosti izgorio, a očevici navode da je gust oblak crnog dima dugo kuljao sa mjesta nesreće.

Škotski automobilista na svjetskom reliju prvi put nastupio je 1987. godine, a 1991. i 1992. godine osvojio je Britanski šampionat u reliju. Nakon toga, uslijedile su Mekreove pobjede na svjetskim relijima. Od prve pobjede, 1993. godine na Novom Zelandu, Mekre je trijumfovao na 25 trka, a četiri puta došao je do naslova svjetskog prvaka, sa ekipama 'Subarua' (3) i 'Sitroena' (1). Pored Kolina, automobilizmom se još bavio i njegov brat Alister, kao i otac Džimi Mekre.
